To the Editor of the Boston Herald
After reading the article “Overtime Eats up BPD Cash” on March 5 I felt I had no option but to respond. I am Vice President of the Boston Police Detectives Benevolent Society. The Society represents over 400 detectives up to and including the rank of Captain Detective. Our members are hard-working men and women who have chosen to risk their lives without hesitation every time they report for work and have dedicated themselves to serving the residents and visitors of the City of Boston. They are professionals in every sense of the word
As you may recall Gerry and I told you we would be holding “Town Meetings” at various locations from time to time.
Over the past 3 months we have held one at B-2 and last night at the Family Justice Center. Our agenda is pretty simple WE don’t have one. The floor is YOURS to discuss whatever concerns/ issues you would like to address . These meetings are not about hearing us talk, they are about listening to you.
At the meetings we held conversations about the following Occupational Health Unit (Drug Testing), parking at HQ, and supervisor vacancies.
The following is a brief summary of questions and answers that the Detectives at the FJC brought forward.
